It’s time for the last instalment of the Raymond Weil Music Special Edition Collection. The final watch taking the limelight this week is the Freelancer Electro, in collaboration with English artist Labrinth.
Self-confessed ‘music geek,’ Labrinth has been making tremors in the music industry with an eclectic mix of chart-topping songs, including ‘Earthquake’, ‘Beneath You’re Beautiful’, ‘Let the Sun Shine’ and ‘Last Time,’ as well as his long-awaited new single titled ‘Jealous’. Labrinth is widely becoming one of the UK’s most exciting artists, never sticking to one genre and collaborating with some of the industry’s top names.
This bespoke Freelance timepiece is a fine example of Raymond Weil’s adroit and expert craftsmanship put into practice, along with a heavy influence from the artist Labrinth, whose skills seem to transcend from the music industry into the world of horology.
The Freelancer Electro features a 42mm stainless steel case, with a satin finished, rose gold PVD plated steel bezel and crown. The Electro also houses the RW4200 automatic mechanism with a 38hr power reserve, making each timepiece unrelentingly reliable. Encompassing the inner circle you will see Labrinths very own 3D pattern on a silver background. This pattern is then traced by a music equalizer motif that spreads around the outer dial.
This modern design and collaboration is something that we see very little of in the prestigious watch industry, it portrays Raymond Weils dedication to the preservation of fine watch making for the modern world.
The Electro Freelancer is also a charity project to support KORI, a charity launched in 2002 that supports and educates children, young people and families living the Borough of Harrigey, London.
Hopefully the past few articles showcasing the new Music Special Edition watches, has given you an insight into the world of Raymond Weil, and possibly encouraged you to look further into the brand, and their unique way of incorporating two of the finest arts in the world, music and watch making.
