This timepiece is inspired by the landscape of the world’s largest marine sanctuary – Antarctica. The dials graduated colour and texture echo the white-blue views of the area created by light reflected on the ice, whilst the penguin footprints represent the dwindling numbers of its inhabitants. Seiko donates proceeds from these ‘Save the Ocean’ models to sea conservation and environmental organisations. Prospex is a combination of the words 'Professional' and 'Specifications.' The shape of this watch is affectionately nicknamed by Seiko fans as a ‘Tuna’ - because of its larger diameter and bold shape like a tuna tin - loved for decades since its release. This Seiko SRPG57K1 Prospex watch combines a 49.4mm round shaped stainless steel case and bracelet with a triple folding clasp and push button. It has an icy blue analogue dial with Lumibrite coated hands, indexes and bezel, in addition to a day/date display, all of which is protected beneath hardlex glass. Power is generated by the Calibre 4R36 automatic movement with 24 jewels and a 41 hour power reserve. This model also has a unidirectional rotating bezel, a water resistance of up to 200 metres, overcharge prevention, and weighs 187 grams.
