Interview: Our Savile Row Model
In this article, I sit down with model and fellow co-worker Simon, to find out more about what happened on the day of our photo shoot, what he loves most about watches and certain brands, and why he was the perfect man for the job.
So Simon, how long have you been working in the world of watches?
I began working in both the watch and jewellery industry back in 2013; however, I have been purely dedicated to watches for just over a year and a half.
Do you have a favourite brand/s?
I really appreciate the craftsmanship of the Raymond Weil watches we sell online, but, at a different price point, the new 88 Rue Du Rhone watches we have are a great brand with a really original design and colour scheme used throughout.
What do you look for in a watch?
It all depends on the activity and the occasion. If I’m at the gym, I’ll choose a watch with a chronograph or a stopwatch. But if I’m going on a night out, I’ll usually pick a watch that goes with my outfit – I think it's an important factor to make everything work together.
Do you often change your watch to reflect your outfit?
All the time! It’s the finishing touch to whatever I’m wearing.
We loved the photo shoot you did for us and Savile Row Co, did you feel nervous going out onto the streets of London?
No, not really. I just embraced the opportunity regardless of my surroundings in order to get the best shots.
For the collaboration, we were mainly dealing with Savile Row Co's online shop that showcases an affordable capsule collection for modern gents; however, while you were there you were shown around their made-to-measure shop, how do you think it differs from many of the other high-street stores?
Everything about the store had a touch of class and it was a clear imitation of their clientele. We received a warm welcome from the tailors of Savile Row that instantly made me feel comfortable and ready to get the shots we needed in the store. It had a certain presence you definitely wouldn’t find on the high-street.
Out of all of the outfits that you modelled, which one did you like the most?
The navy signature linen suit was my favourite. I loved the comfortable but fitted feel to the suit, and the quality of the linen was unsurpassable.
Were there any watches that you wore on the shoot that you had never worked closely with before?
The Henry London watches were very stylish and comfortable. The Henry London design has a domed dial giving a vintage touch to the timepiece that I loved. I was also surprised at the quality of the watch compared to its more affordable price point.
What was the highlight of the day?
Well, it was hard to fault. We had good weather, a great photographer and working alongside the Savile Row team was brilliant, they made us very welcome and contributed to a successful shoot.
